Soulland's head designer and close friend, Silas Adler, founded Soulland in 2002 and what started as a small company specialized in print T-shirts has now grown into a well established menswear brand recognized and represented in leading stores around the world. Pigalle is the only french boutique to sell Soulland and we are very proud of it.
The new fall and winter collection is in store. As usual the esthetic is rooted in traditional Scandinavian craftmanship and through great attention to the detailing of the clothes.

This friday 1st of October marked the opening of a new spot in Paris that is already very dear to our hearts. Indeed, Charaf Tajer, one of the members of our own Pain O choKolat crew teamed up with John Whelan and famed restaurant owner Omar to create Le Pompon.
Created with the mindset of an old speakeasy, the restaurant will also be able to host some of the hottest parties in the city, thanks to its club area, underneath the restaurant, two floors below.
Hosting the official party of the (Capsule) show, Le Pompon opened with a bang during the Paris Women's Fashion Week. A party where a who's who of the fashion world decided to come and enjoy themselves.
A first but certainly not a last. Make sure to pass by...

For the second year running and after the editions in Berlin and Amsterdam, PIGALLE and BKRW joined forces to organize and host a slew of creatives, artists and all-around great individuals to celebrate friendship over a friendly basketball tournament in our neighborhood, on our recently restored basketball court. PXA B'Ball Tournament in Pigalle it is!
As usual, our good friends from all over came to celebrate with us, "La Famille" style. Teams from Amsterdam and Berlin as well as Paris made the event even more succesful than last year's. Berlin brought an all-star lineup with their own SOTO/MADE team, as well as the lovely ladies from Candy. Amsterdam was not lacking with the RBF (Bicycle Federation) squad, Acht and their own AMS ladies team.
Expectedly, Paris had a few more teams with gents from PIGALLE, BKRW, the ROUCREATION collective and the coolest bouncers in town, "Main de Fer" all coming together to compete. The ladies were also well represented with COLETTE, PIGALLE and fashion website LE CLOSET's own team.
On the ladies front, it was all business this year. The much more polished squads gave the gentlemen a run for their money, Candy ended up facing Le Closet in the finale, which the Frenchies won by a point. Laughs and hugs were generously shared afterwards.
With the help of a beautiful weather and in the presence of the neighborhood kids, The PIGALLE team won for a second straight-year against the "Main de Fer" guys in an epic final game. Two teams battling it out til the very end in beautiful spirit. That's what this tournament is all about.
Throughout the day, music was provided by Pain o choKolat and guests while dancing activities, BBQ, drinks and make-up were provided for the kids and guests. At some point an improvised dance-off was set up and everybody got to show off their skills on the floor, an anticipaion for the night to come.
And as usual all teams and guests continued their celebrations by partying till the wee hours of the morning at Les Coulisses in Montmartre, with the Pain o choKolat soundsystem and Africa Som Sistema (Amsterdam) providing the musical selection.
We are all looking forward to July 2011 for the 3rd edition…PIGALLE loves Basket-ball!

Together with the Parisian shop Colette, we were given the task to help street-wear giants Stussy fittingly celebrate their 30th Anniversary during the Parisian fashion week as part of the (capsule) show. PainOchoKolat and Pigalle were as usual given hosting duties to welcome 150 VIPs of the international fashion scene in town for the Fashion Week. Picking a secret location very close to our boutique, it was decided to treat the guests to an evening of fun and relaxation in an amazing rooftop and let them take advantage of an unparalleled view of the City.
With multiple Dj's on the ones and twos, a ping pong table, inflatable balloons for people to sunbathe, and a catered buffet, the very select few stayed for hours and properly took their time to catch up with old friends and celebrate Stussy's continued success in a beautiful setting.
Following the evening, the guests joined forces with the youth of the city and were headed to the Divan du Monde to properly celebrate and dance to the music provided by the PainOchoKolat soundsystem, Amsterdam legend Mr.Wix, Luca Benini from SlamJam and Dj Hendrix from Reincarnation. For our first Pigalle collection, Stephane Ashpool and Loïc van Herreweghe came out with a bang. As a collaborative effort between the two, this collection offered a maturity and cohesion rarely seen this early in a process. With a collection heavily influenced by both the Balkans and Paris, it's the ingenuity of the process of dying that had everyone raving about the collection.
With the runway set on the Place Gustave Toudouze, a setting always very important for our Pigalle family, many fashion insiders and friends alike were wowed by the backdrop and the assembly of bright colors, very inspired jewelry and earth-tones. With three themes being the Balkans, the Street and the Parisian Night, we chose to create a very distinctive silhouette and set ourselves apart from the current trends by working the fabrics more than try to revolutionize their cuts.
The outcome of a more than a year-long process, the first Pigalle collection was sure to pleasantly surprise most of the public. The success and praise was immediate and hopefully the sign of many more collections to come in the very near future.
The Collection will be in stores in January 2011.

For the seventh annual Fête de la Musique, our PAIN O CHOKOLAT collective moved from our usual spot at the Place Gustave Toudouze to the Eglise de la Trinité in order to fit the ever-growing crowds flocking the event and attracted by a more than healthy word of mouth.
Once again, more than 8000 people were there to witness New York Hip Hop act DEAD PREZ share the stage with local French superstars 113, both acts being surprises to the public who were treated prior to the musical treat of THE HOP, an emerging instrumental Hip Hop collective. Before , THE HOP french talented artists as OKO/19, ALKA BALBIR, NS DOS, COOL CO', LOVENI and the PAIN O CHOKOLAT SOUND SYSTEM kept the crowd bumping from 6pm til the late hours of the night.

OKOSEXUEL BY OKO EBOMBO

On Friday, May 28th, was the unveiling of the OKOsexuel exhibit, a work on 7 selected themes by Lionel "Oko" Ebombo : desire, charm, obsession, passion, love and fruit. Each of these emotions were expressed through 7 photographic or videographic works, showing his vision on 7 different women.
As one of the prominent members of the PainOchoKolat collective, Lionel "Oko" Ebombo is a multi talented artist that has extensive backgrounds in dance choreography, in singing (with his musical project Oko/19 gaining praise and a very strong word of mouth) and of course in directing. This spring, he treated us to another facet of his artistic output, with a collection of nudes that transported us further inside the psyche of the madman.
And once again, the outcome was a resounding success with a sold out show, clients enthused by the size and quality of the pieces. This was his second exhibit in as many years at the PIGALLE store and the fruitful collaborations are sure to keep coming. Many people from the parisian art scene made a point to come and support the up-and-coming Renaissance man, such as graffiti artist André and many more.
And as usual, the Afterparty was hosted by the PainOchoKolat soundsystem in local club Le Tigre, preceded by a performance, in the buff (yes, naked to fit the theme of the night and the song "Naked Life), of Oko's outfit, Oko/19. A memorable night to say the least.

PAUL HAMY'S EXHIBITION

On the Saturday, March 6th, took place the opening of Paul Hamy's first exhibit "CHAPEAU, CHIMÈRE et FORME" ("Hats, Chimeras and Shapes”). Smiles and compliments were exchange in the crowed gathered at our Pigalle boutique.
From his hats' collection (some Fedoras, a few Porkpies and trillbies) to the animal face rings made in gaffer tape, through the two windows of the shop that were occupied by two huge pieces suggesting a man with a top-hat trying to escape, we discover Paul's technique he names scochin'.
The narrow corridor of the Pigalle store was redecorated with zoologically shaped lampshades manufactured in tape letting the light show trough : l'"en-poule", a hat, an egg.
Lastly we are enraptured in front of a sample of his metal wiring styles sculptures; "The patient woman" and "The man falling". His talent is incontestable, the details subjugates, one can't hazard a guess to the path of his technique. congr-hat-ulation.
A full fresh artist to be seen at the PIGALLE boutique cause the hats stay for sell.

On January 20th in Berlin, Nike celebrated their new “True City iPhone application, a city guide from insiders for insiders, with a showroom exhibition and a launch party. To host the party, NSW invited Pigalle with two other major European stores: Patta from Amsterdam and Firmament from Berlin.
The party took place in the fancy club Bar Tausend in Mitte. Our PainOchoKolat Sound System and Parra Sound System hosted the party. As you can imagine, with partners like these on board, the evening turned out crazy, hot and fun.
It has been a successful event for everyone. Feedbacks were amazing for us and we want to thank Bianca from NSW, Patta & Firmament, Phil from Soto Store, …

THE ONE YEAR PARTY

Pigalle has celebrated its first anniversary. This weekend was another memorable one for our family, trying to generate some really positive energy in Paris and around the globe.
The evening began at the store itself where friends and family chilled for few moments before continuing to the PainOchoKolat offices for a friendly screening of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” with all the kids from the neighborhood invited once again. Popcorn, beers, laughter and Nike hoodies for everyone that came along, the perfect introduction to the evening that was following.
The crowd waiting outside Cafe Carmen had absolutely no idea what they were in for. A giant sauna where most of the guests were shouting at the top of their lungs, dancing their booties off, and drinking Vodka from the bottle. All in all one hell of an atmosphere for one helluva party. We were fortunate enough to have a bunch of our friends from abroad that made it here to celebrate with us (Damir Doma, Rick Owens Corp. staff, Angelo Baque, Berlin family, the list goes on), It was for all of us a new experience and the best way to lose weight.
The music was provided by the PainOchoKolat Sound System, DJ Jean (Mos Def DJ), Hollywood Raf and the very promising Dal-G. Stay tuned/

On September 2nd 2009 in Paris, Nike was launching the seventh shoe in series of limited edition styles of LeBron James' new shoe, the Nike Air Max LeBron VII.
Aside from the official release of the shoe, LeBron James received three pairs of customized versions of his latest signature shoe as part of the artist's grassroots movement that followed his "More Than a Game" World Tour. Parisian freelance artist Wue Yué a.k.a "Nyno" and Renaissance Man Stéphane Ashpool, "Monsieur Le Maire", offered LeBron the three uniquely designed pairs.
Nyno is a Paris-based freelance artist and animator. Born in Beijing in 1983, Nyno and his parents moved to Paris in 1991, where he has lived and studied ever since. He is famous for his incredibly fast drawing abilities. Additionally, Nyno often uses original Chinese ink for his drawings, which gives them a special touch. This year Nyno became one of the most prolific artists on the Parisian scene.
Born and raised in Paris, Stéphane Ashpool is the co-owner of ViDA9, a company that produces and choreographs high-fashion events. Ashpool is also the co-founder and Creative Director of the Pain O choKolat crew, an artists’ collective. He is the owner of the Pigalle boutique, a place to organize art openings and cultural happenings in the Ninth District neighbourhood of Paris, where Mr. Ashpool grew up.

Aside from the official release of the shoe, LeBron James received three pairs of customized versions of his latest signature shoe as part of the artist's grassroots movement that followed his "More Than a Game" World Tour. Parisian freelance artist Wue Yué a.k.a "Nyno" and Renaissance Man Stéphane Ashpool, "Monsieur Le Maire", offered LeBron the three uniquely designed pairs.
Nyno is a Paris-based freelance artist and animator. Born in Beijing in 1983, Nyno and his parents moved to Paris in 1991, where he has lived and studied ever since. He is famous for his incredibly fast drawing abilities. Additionally, Nyno often uses original Chinese ink for his drawings, which gives them a special touch. This year Nyno became one of the most prolific artists on the Parisian scene.
Born and raised in Paris, Stéphane Ashpool is the co-owner of ViDA9, a company that produces and choreographs high-fashion events. Ashpool is also the co-founder and Creative Director of the Pain O choKolat crew, an artists’ collective. He is the owner of the Pigalle boutique, a place to organize art openings and cultural happenings in the Ninth District neighbourhood of Paris, where Mr. Ashpool grew up.

PIGALLE B'BALL COURT

Pigalle owner and Pain O choKolat crew member Stéphane Ashpool recently unveiled his latest collaboration with Nike.
Taking an artistic approach to the task, Ashpool took on the honourable duty of renovating a local basketball court with the help and assistance from his friend and colleague, Wu Yué "Nyno", a local Parisian artist. The court is located in the very area Pigalle where Stéphane and most of his crew spent their childhood and still live in. The POK offices as well as the Pigalle boutique are all a stone's throw away from the court.
With Nike willing to support them and Pigalle wanting to give back to their community by allowing the kids of the neighbourhood to have a proper spot to play basketball, they decided to make it fun an funky looking.
Finding inspiration from Venice Beach, the court toned with salmon, burgundy and turquoise hues with a rusted metal net, silver hoops, finished off with wood and copper backboards for an added retro touch. The opening f the court took place on September 2nd 2009, featuring several well-known personalities including NBA superstar LeBron James.
"Nyno" painted up the three walls of the new Pigalle-Duperré basketball court and recreated images from the neighbourhood heroes sitting alongside Futura, Grace Jones, Serge Gainsbourg, Pedro Winter and many... many more who from now on will be up there watching the players do their thing.
